Just after inventing the fake band legend that is Spinal Tap, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer invented The Folksmen, a parody of early 1960s folk music groups. They first appeared on Saturday Night Live in 1984, and finally appeared in a feature length film in 2003, A Mighty Wind.
