Jon Lennox
Vocals, Guitar, Tuba
Jon first heard Heart's song, "What About Love" while
listening to Kasey Kasem's American Top 40. Jon describes that day as his
"first conversion." He and Andy met in the high marching band and
would play Heart tunes on their tuba and trumpet, while waiting for Andy's
mom to pick them up after practice. During their senior year the boys started
a Heart cover band called, Heart 2.
Mikel
Speilvogel
Upright Bass, Saxophone
Mikel is the latest to join the band and a life long Heart fan.
He fell in love with the Wilson siblings, after his older brother brought
home a copy of "Dreamboat Annie". Mikel joined the group last June, during the band's annual performance at the First Unity Congregation Church
of Montclair's Pancake Supper. Mikel had come to buy a plate of blueberry
pancakes with whipped cream and powdered sugar. He notice the band playing
and saw they had no bass player. He ran to his car, unpacked his upright bass,
ran back inside and just joined the band on stage. Jon, Andy and Todd didn't
know what to do, but in an act of Christian kindness, they didn't stop him
from playing. Since then Mikel has been learning to play the bass and is coming
along nicely.
Andy
Taylor
Vocals, Drums, Trumpet
Andy was introduced to Heart at about the same time as Jon,
but under very different circumstances. He had been listening to Rick Dees'
Weekly Top 40 show when he was blown away by Ann and Nancy's Wilson's "What
about Love". Andy rewrites most of the songs to give them a Christian
message. It was at a church youth service, being lead by Andy's cousin Rev.
C. W. Laudry, that Jon and Andy experienced what Andy calls their, "second
conversion."
Todd
Vickery
Keyboards, Harmonica
Todd has never liked Heart and has never confessed to having
turned his life over to Christ. During high school, Todd made a wager with
his co-captain of the football team, Rodney Parrish. The prize was the right
to ask Shelly Fackmahon to the Senior Prom. The bet was to see who could stand
hanging around geeks longer. Rodney joined the computer club and Todd began
playing keyboards with Andy and Jon. Rodney is now a executive at Microsoft
and has 3 kids with his lovely wife Shelly.
