Band History
Sacred Heart began as a simple high school cover band. Jon Lennox and Andy Taylor started the band as a way to celebrate the music of one of the most gifted rock bands of all time, Heart. Back then the band was named Heart 2 and only had three members. Jon on vocals and guitar, Andy on drums and Todd Vickery on keyboards. They performed regularly for city art and culture events, local supermarket openings, and retirement parties for city employees. Back then the boys lived some wild and rowdy lives.
In 1992 Jon and Andy found the Lord and made a covenant with God, that they would use their talents to spread the gospel. The boys were very unsuccessful at writing religious songs and almost broke up the band, but one night Jon had a revelation. The band's talents were not in writing music, the band's talents were in playing other people's music. So they began practicing covers of other gospel groups' songs. Two weeks later Andy had a revelation, the band's talents were not in playing other people's music, but in playing the music of Heart. So he rewrote a few Heart songs with new, bible based, religious lyrics and renamed the band Sacred Heart.
