OK, on a B&W G3/450 (256MB, built-in video)
- PPC: 9 seconds (Mac OS 9.1, VM off)
- Carbon: 117 seconds (Mac OS X commercial release)
What the hell's up with that?!@##$? Did you hear that an update will
be posted any day via the Software Update feature? It will supposedly
increase performance.

Subject: 1K Windows results for G4/733

Here's results on my new 733Mhz G4.
OS 9.1 PPC: 4 seconds (4897673 microseconds)
OS 9.1 Carbon: 5 seconds (5142377 microseconds)
OS X Carbon: 59 seconds (59135667 microseconds)
I too am a long time Apple fan and buyer of most systems they have
released. The OS X beta was pretty solid for a beta ... but seems
like its gone down from there! Not only is it slower than OS 9 (and
your pick of Windows on Intel), but it crashed ... yes the OS froze 3
times the first 2 hours using it. Apple better get their @$%& together
quickly on this or they'll have their most loyal users giving up on them.
OS X was the opportunity to kick Windows' ass, but it feels like a
"windows 1.0" blunder so far.

Hey Rob it took me 70 sec in OS X to run Let1kWindowsBloom. I am running
10.1.5 on a G3 700 iBook with 640 megs of ram.
I ran the carbon version on both my 9600/300 with a Newer Tech 500 MHz G3 and
an ATI Xclaim VR graphics card (1024 MB RAM) running OS 9.0.4, and my new
iBook 700, 324 MB RAM, OS 10.1.5.
Results are:
9600: 14.7 seconds (3 test average)
iBook 700: 61.5 seconds. (2 tests)
